Sarajevo International Airport ended the year 2013 with excellent business results

The year 2013 will be remembered in history of Sarajevo International Airport as one the most successful business years of the company.
As a result of dedication of both the company’s Management and all employees, Sarajevo International Airport successfully realized ambitious goals set in the beginning of 2013.
In respect of passengers in 2013, a record in history of the company is achieved with 665.638, what is 15% more in comparison with 2012.
An increase is also achieved regarding air traffic operations in 2013, with 5.512, what is 4% more in comparison with the previous year.
The increase of air traffic figures reflected on the financial results. Thus the earnings grew in almost all profit making centres, including passenger service, aircraft ground handling, commerce, cargo and complementary services.
Being aware that successful business is not measured only by financial results but also by activities in the sphere of social accountability, Sarajevo International Airport continued its socially sensitive practice throughout 2013 taking care of the local community, responsible attitude to the environmental protection, and giving donations for humanitarian purposes and sponsoring sports and cultural events.
In respect of business achievements, another great success of Sarajevo International Airport is a re-certification in accordance with the international ISO standards ISO 9001 Quality Management System and 14001 Environmental Management System, as well as certification according to the ISO 27001- Information Security Management System.
Due to the above mentioned, Sarajevo International Airport has become of rare BiH companies whose working processes are completely in compliance with the international standards: ISO 9001:2008, 14001:2004 and 27001:2005.
Sarajevo Airport has been developing its employees potentials for years through its Training Centre, which was in 2013 awarded the LH Cargo (Lufthansa Cargo) Certificate. Constant training of the company’s employees has been recognized as one of the key moving forces for further development.
Business plans for the current year include the following: start of operations of the Swedish airline SAS
( Scandinavian Airlines System), a leading Carrier in Scandinavian countries, introduction of a direct air service Berlin –Sarajevo- Berlin by Germanwingsa, as well as a continuation of negotiations with the biggest low-cost airline in Eastern Europe, Wizz Air.
During the summer season and the World Football Championship we expect 3% increase of charter flights and an increase of scheduled operations. For that reason we planned a reconstruction of the arrival area of Terminal B, in order to be able to render even better services to passengers of the busiest BiH airport which is likely to face another successful business year.
